Performance, Development and Recreational crews
Mixed, women's, cancer survivor & breast cancer survivor crews
Adults of all genders and fitness levels welcome.
This program focuses on individual and team development, fitness, strength and technique. Canal Dragons attend 1 -5 races.
Racing is optional, and racing fees are additional. You may attend as many or as few races as decided between you, your team and your coach.
Participants are assigned to training groups:
Performance, Development or Recreational.
Recreational or Development can be chosen by the paddler, Performance must be earned with a commitment to training and developed paddling skills. The coaches will help you decide where you fit and movement from one training group to another is fluid.
Mixed, women's, age categories, para, cancer survivor and breast cancer survivor crews train with both their training groups and with their class category crews.

September 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Development and Performance: -Mondays and/or Wednesdays
Crews train for racing, fitness, strength, skill and camaraderie.
Recreational paddling: Mondays.
Crews train for wellness and camaraderie.
Weekends TBD and will be an extra charge.
The schedule changes in autumn when the days get shorter. The membership will be polled to determine which days and at what time training will be in October.
There will be two night paddles scheduled.

This session, run by Ozturk is designed for OC1 leaders at South Niagara Canoe club.
Ozturk will instruct on the proper use of the equipment, the rules for the OC1 rental program and safety.
Leaders that successfully complete this orientation, and has successfully completed the NCCP Safe Sport module will be qualified to volunteer to run orientation session for paddlers, help coach OC1 and to accompany OC1 paddlers that are not qualified to take the boats out on their own.
Bring a towel, a dry change of clothes, and bottled water to drink.
Support persons are welcome to cheer from the shore.

Friday June 7 teams can practice with dragon boats organized by Alkame Dragon Boat Services.
Saturday June 8 at 7am vendors set up and teams arrive. Races begin at approximately 9am and continue until approximately 3pm at which time there is an award ceremony.

This four-day long program is designed to introduce the sport of sprint canoe and kayak to young boys and girls through a fun-filled environment and a variety of both on land and on water activities. Youth will learn boat safety, paddling fundamentals and skills. This program is intended for beginner and novice paddlers, however participants must be confident in the water.
A life jacket or personal flotation device (PFD) must be worn at all times while in or around the water. Participants are encouraged to bring their own PFD each day. Camp runs each day from 9 am - 4 pm.
Please note that registrations will only be processed once SNCC has received a completed registration and full payment.
Youth Racing Camp (YRC) is a five-week day camp intended for young participants ages 10 - 15 who are excited about excelling at a new sport or those who wish to continue to develop their skills in Sprint Canoe and Kayak. Participants should be enthusiastic to try out the competitive side of the sport and be willing to challenge themselves as they progress.
Dates: July 2 - August 2, 2024 excluding holidays
Price: $900 until March 17 (Early Bird Rate), $950 afterwards
Times: 9:00am - 4:00pm, Early Drop off and Late Pick Up included.
Early drop off begins 8:00am
Late pick up until 5:00pm
All coaching, equipment and race fees are included in registration fee. All activities, including any racing, will take place at the Welland International Flatwater Centre.

*During week 4 of YRC, camp will be relocated to the Lincoln Street Docks in Welland due to the CanAm Dragon Boat Championships being held at the Welland international Flatwater Centre (WIFC). Week 5 of YRC returns to the WIFC/SNCC site.
The Head Coach may reserve the right to have a paddler sit out a race if they appear to be unwell or due to the weather conditions. Health and safety come first.
